Harold A. DeRemer, U.C.C. pastor

Harold A. DeRemer, 97 of Allentown, died Feb. 1, 2014, at the Phoebe Home, Allentown. Born in Jim Thorpe, he was a son of the late Irvin and Emma (Rabe) DeRemer. He was the husband of Eleanor G. (Billig) for 68 years.

He earned his professional engineer's license in 1964.

He was a Warrant Officer Junior Grade in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was an electrical engineer, credited with eight patents, for the former General Electric, Allentown, for 32 years before retiring in 1983.

He was a member of St. John's U.C.C., Emmaus. He was a former member of the former Salem U.C.C. Church, Allentown.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, The Rev. Dr. David H. and his wife Kathy of Bethlehem; two grandchildren, Amy and her husband Shawn Silvoy of Bethlehem and Christopher and his wife Siobhan DeRemer of Allentown.

He was predeceased by four brothers; and two sisters.

Calling hours will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. followed by the services at 11 a.m., both at Phoebe Home– Moyer Hall, 1925 Turner Street, Allentown, 18104.
