Charotin Hose Company Fire Calls
North Catasauqua's Charotin Hose Company responded to the following calls in November and December.
Motor vehicle accident
Nov. 30, 2013 12:55 p.m.
North Catasauqua firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident in front of 1213 Howertown Road. Firefighters arrived to find a vehicle had struck two parked vehicles. Charotin personnel cleaned up fluids and controlled traffic while the damaged vehicles were removed.
Fire alarm
Dec. 1, 2013
8:28 p.m.
Charotin firefighters responded to the Catasauqua High Rise, 534 Third St., Catasauqua, for a fire alarm. Firefighters found the alarm was caused by normal cooking in an apartment on the fourth floor.
Shed fire
Dec. 3, 2013 11:18 a.m.
North Catasauqua personnel responded to a mutual aid call to Northampton. The call came in as a dwelling fire at 936 Main St. North Catasauqua firefighters assisted the Northampton Fire Department in extinguishing a shed which was on fire.
Odor
investigation
Dec. 3, 2013 11:29 a.m.
North Catasauqua and Catasauqua firefighters responded to a report of an odor at 1106 Second St., North Catasauqua. The caller smelled sewer gas in the basement. Northampton Fire Department was also dispatched on the call but recalled with sufficient personnel on scene to handle the investigation. The dwelling was checked out and it was confirmed that the odor was indeed sewer gas. Both units were released from the scene.
High-occupancy fire
Dec. 8, 2013 10:32 a.m.
Fire departments from North Catasauqua, Catasauqua, Allen Township and Northampton were dispatched to a reported fire in a senior residential facility in Northampton. The fire was determined to be in a dryer at the Sacred Heart Assisted Living facility at 602 E. 21st St., Northampton. All other fire departments were recalled and the situation was handled by the Northampton department.
Structure fire
Dec. 14, 2013 1:50 p.m.
North Catasauqua firefighters responded with the Northampton Fire Department for a structure fire in the 1700 block of Lincoln Avenue, Northampton. Police arrived on location and reported smoke showing from a garage. The Allen Township Fire Department and Northampton Regional EMS were also on the assignment. The mutual aid was canceled when the Northampton personnel found a small fire and put it out with a small, pressurized fire extinguisher.
Smoke alarm
Dec. 13, 2013 2:39 p.m.
Firefighters from North Catasauqua responded along with the Northampton Fire Department for a report of a smoke alarm sounding at 378 E 5th St., Northampton. It was determined to be a malfunctioning smoke detector and North Catasauqua firefighters were recalled while responding.
Carbon
monoxide
investigation
Dec. 12, 2013 9:52 p.m.
Charotin firefighters responded to 1617 Washington St. for a carbon monoxide investigation. Firefighters checked the residence and found no signs of carbon monoxide. Four people were at the home and none complained of any systems.
