Russell R. Snyder, 86, of Emmaus, died Feb. 3, 2014, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Betty Mae (Schaffer) Snyder. The couple would have celebrated 62 years of marriage on Sept. 6. Born in Limeport, he was the son of the late Roy and Alma E. (Weaver) Schaffer.
He was a member of St. Paul's Blue Lutheran Church, Coopersburg.
He was an Army Air Force Veteran serving during World War II.
He was a lifetime member of the Coopersburg VFW Post 3405 and was a 50 year member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
He was an assembler and driver for Mack Trucks for 25 years, retiring in 1987 and was a member of the Local Union 677. Previously he was a truck driver for the former Dorsey Light Company.
He was active in the community including his lifetime membership to both the Lower Milford Twp. Fire Co. and the Quakertown Moose, and was a member of the Lower Lehigh Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Susan M. and her husband Millard Arnold, of Macungie, and Connie J. Kramer, of Lake Villa, Ill.; grandchildren, Kevin Smith, Tanya Ondrovic and Amanda Kramer; great-granddaughter, Kayla Wood. He was predeceased by a grandson, Russell Smith.
