Freedom High School's girls swimming team survived an 89-81 victory over Moravian Academy last week after suffering recent losses the week prior.
Freedom junior, Helen Hsu, said, "Three meets before, they were tough ones. We knew that going in, so we were just trying to do our best. It was nice to finally come out on the winning side."
Hsu won the 50 free in 24.46 and the 500 free in 5:16.01.
Other individual event winners for the Patriots were Carly DelFranco in the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.61, and the 100 free with a time of 57.94.
Hsu, Kelly Kopko, DelFranco, and Reilly Ward also took first place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:59.36.
"We had some opportunities to race other swimmers, and we were trying to focus on individual times," said Hsu.
Also last week, the Freedom girls defeated Central Catholic 103-74.
DelFranco, Kopko, Hsu, and Shannon Howell opened the meet with a 1:56.03 victory in the 200 medley relay. Hsu, Howell, DelFranco, and Caitlin McCadden also won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:46.70.
Individual event winners for the Patriot girls against the Vikings were Hsu in the 200 free with a time of 1:55.51, DelFranco in the 200 IM with a time of 2:20.77 and the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:04.95, Rachel Giles in the 50 free with a time of 27.41 and the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.89, Reilly Ward in the 100 free with a time of 1:02.07, and Howell in the 500 free with a time of 5:33.39.
Wednesday, the Patriots will host crosstown rival, Liberty, for the final swim meet of the regular season.
This meet was moved up a day because of potential for snow Thursday.
