Car crashes into house
Aug. 1, 2013, 3:53 p.m.
Firefighters responded to 510 Arch St. on the report of a car that crashed into a house and found a vehicle had gone out of control and crashed through the wall of the home, causing significant damage to the garage. The driver was still seated in the car but was not entrapped and was attended to by medical staff from a nearby office. Northampton Regional EMS evaluated the driver and transported the individual to the hospital for the treatment of minor injuries received in the accident.
The homeowners were both in the house at the time of the accident. Both were in a separate area from the garage and were uninjured, although they were very shaken up.
The building inspector was requested to the scene and also a restoration contractor to stabilize and board up the garage wall. The building inspector determined the garage was stable and the occupants were allowed back into their home that evening.
Dwelling fire
Aug. 3, 2013, 2:48 a.m.
North Catasauqua personnel responded with the Catasauqua Fire Department for a structure fire at 30 Second St., Catasauqua. The fire was spotted by a Catasauqua police officer on patrol, who notified the sleeping residents of the fire and evacuated them.
Catasauqua firefighters laid a supply into the scene and stopped short due to downed power lines in the street. They ultimately had three lines stretched and operating. The Catasauqua aerial truck was set up for access to the roof. North Catasauqua vehicles went to Railroad Street in the rear of the property. A West Catasauqua engine took position along Linden Street and stretched 2 1/2-inch attack line across the backyards to the fire.
Han-Le-Co Fire Company personnel joined Charotin firefighters in the rear alley. Also on the assignment were Nancy Run Special Services, Greenawalds Rescue, Northampton Regional EMS and Hanover Township EMS.
One firefighter was transported from the scene. He was treated for dehydration and smoke inhalation and released from the hospital.

North Catasauqua firefighters responded to the Catasauqua High Rise at 534 Third St. for an automatic fire alarm with the Catasauqua Fire Department.

Aug. 7, 2013, 12:44 p.m.
For the second time in as many days, North Catasauqua and Catasauqua firefighters responded to the Catasauqua High Rise at 534 Third St. for an automatic fire alarm The cause was normal cooking in a fourth-floor apartment.
Smoke detector sounds
Aug. 9, 2013, 5:36 p.m.
Firefighters were dispatched to 202 Front St., along with Catasauqua Fire Department for a fire alarm sounding. Firefighters determined the alarm was due to a faulty detector.
