NAHS head football coach resigns
By a voice vote and with no comment, the Northampton Area School District School Board accepted the resignation of Jeffrey Brosky as Northampton Area High School head football coach.
The NASD board accepted Brosky's resignation by voice vote, at the recommendation of the administration. Brosky resigned Dec. 19, 2013.
He coached the Konkrete Kids football team for two years. His record as coach was two wins and 21 losses. This past season, the football team had no wins and 12 losses overall and no wins and nine losses in the Lehigh Valley Conference.
The Northampton football team lost to the Catasauqua High School Rough Riders in the annual Turkey Day Game, which returned to Muhlenberg College Scotty Wood Stadium Nov. 28. The Northampton Area Middle School and Secondary Campus Renovation Project includes a new field house and new track and artificial turf football field at Al Erdosy Memorial Stadium.
In an addendum to the Jan. 13 school board agenda, also by voice vote, school directors accepted the resignation of Michael Bauer as NAHS assistant boys basketball coach, effective Jan. 13.
Also in the addendum, by a roll call unanimous vote of 9-0, school board members approved the hiring of Scott Johnson as NAHS assistant boys basketball coach at 80 percent of 80 percent of the assistant coach stipend for a total pro-rated compensation of $1,450.78, with no benefits, pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement between NASD and the Northampton Area Education Association, effective for the 2013-14 school year.
In other business, board members approved, at the recommendation of the administration extension of unpaid childrearing leave for Jennifer Fulfaro through on or about March 31 or the end of the third marking period, with no benefits; and additions and deletions to the substitute listing for the 2013-14 school year.
Also, by unanimous vote, board members approved, at the recommendation of the administration:
· Laura Meyers for an extension of her long-term substitute third grade assignment at Lehigh Elementary, through on or about March 31 or the end of the third marking period, with no change in salary and no benefits;
· Denise Cole, cafeteria monitor at Northampton Area Middle School, effective Jan. 14, pending receipt of updated Act 151 clearance. Her rate of pay will be $10.77 per hour, with no benefits, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between NASD and ESPA;
Contract with the Cindy Miles Agency for speech and language services at Northampton Borough Elementary Schools at a cost not to exceed $37,500;
· Voluntary transfer of Edward Schoeneberger from Tuesday through Saturday custodian to Monday through Friday custodian at Northampton Area Middle School, effective Jan. 14;
· Tara Mrazik, Maryanne Miller, Ann Harrington, Allison Fiorini, Leigh Tetor, Neali Feimster, Jaclyn Grejda, Matt Greenplate, John Blick, Andy Peartree, Ryan Brobst and Robert Steckel to attend the Pennsylvania DECA State Conference along with 175 DECA students Feb. 26, 27 and 28 in Hershey. The maximum cost to NASD will be $12,797.90, with the cost included in the board-approved 2013-14 curriculum budget;
· Anna Zawierucha, volunteer advisor for the Virtual Guild Club at Northampton Area High School, effective Jan. 2;
· Expulsion hearing waiver for Northampton Area Middle School student No. 2013-05;
· Expulsion hearing waiver for Northampton Area High School student No. 2013-07;
· Expulsion hearing waiver for Northampton High School student No. 2013-09; and
· 2013-14 budget transfers and bills for payment.
