Marilyn A. Bennett

Marilyn A. Bennett, 84, of Slatington, formerly of Orefield, and Millsboro, Del., died Jan. 27, 2014, in the home of her son, Bruce D.

She was the wife of the late Frank J. Bennett.

Born Jan. 15, 1930, in Lowhill Township, she was the daughter of the late Lewis E. and Mary A. (Burkhardt) Everett.

A graduate of the former South Whitehall High School, she was a 1951 graduate of the former Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a registered nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital from 1951-65.

Then, she became director of nursing at Mosser Nursing Home, Trexlertown, from 1965 until her retirement in 1988.

She was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.

She enjoyed traveling and playing card games, and will be remembered as a great cook, an avid Penn State fan and a generous woman who loved her family.

Her survivors include children Frank M. Bennett and his wife, Lisanne, of Downingtown, Mary Ann L. Bailey and her husband, Dennis, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Bruce D. Bennett and close friend, Carmella Cavallo, of Slatington; grandchildren Daniel, Kathleen, Lisa and Gregory; great-grandchildren Emily, Arika, Megan and Wyatt; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Harold F. Everett.

Her funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Feb. 1, in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Thomas N. Thomas and the Rev. Russell L.J. Heintzelman officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
