Lehigh Township reorganizes for 2014 supervisors' meetings
Cindy Miller, Lehigh Township supervisor, participated in the Jan. 6 reorganization meeting via a conference call. The other four supervisors were present.
Darryl Snover was named chairman of the board with Sandy Hopkins named vice chairwoman.
Alice Rehrig was named secretary-treasurer and township manager. As treasurer, she was granted authorization to open any accounts necessary by ordinances. The approved depositories are Susquehanna Bank and the Pennsylvania Local Government Investment Trust.
Laura Harrier was reappointed as zoning officer. David Backenstoe was named legal counsel and Michael Corriere of the law firm of Corriere and Andres is legal counsel to the planning commission.
Hanover Engineering was appointed as township engineer normally represented by Phil Malitsch.
Janice Buskirk was named sewage enforcement officer. Rick Hildebrand will head the vacancy board.
Also appointed to boards and commissions are Duane Deppe to the municipal authority, Jeff Erschen to the recreation board, Shawn McGlynn to the planning commission and Kristen Solderidge to the zoning hearing board.
Rehrig was appointed representative to the Northampton tax collection committee and Mary Trexler is the alternate.
Monthly supervisors' meetings will be held the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m. Zoning board meetings will be held the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. when advertised as needed, planning commission meetings will be the second Monday at 6 p.m. and recreation board meetings are scheduled for the third Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Rick Hildebrand was recognized as fire chief and Roger Spade as the fire marshal and fire company president.
Cindy Miller was appointed as the voting delegate to the state convention and all supervisors were named delegates.
David Xander was named emergency management coordinator with Scott Rehrig and Rick Hildebrand as assistants.
Following an executive session, a 2 percent wage increase was approved for the township manager, 1.33 percent increase for the planning and zoning secretary, an increase of 1.25 percent for the zoning officer, 2 percent for the director of public works and a 2.5 percent increase for the chief of police.
Under public comment, Alton Ziegenfuss commended the public works department for keeping the roads clear.
