Gunnar R. Ostby, 74, of Bethlehem, died Jan. 25, 2014, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late Gunnar and Else M. (Bjerke) Ostby.
He was the husband of the late Mary Maurer (Epstein) Ostby.
He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1972 with a degree in electrical engineering.
He was a noncommissioned U.S. Air Force officer.
He worked for AT&T on the transcontinental cable crew for many years before retiring.
He celebrated 35 years of sobriety with Alcoholics Anonymous and was active in his home group.
He is survived by a son, Cameron Tyler Maurer, with whom he resided; a son, Eric; a daughter, Holly; a brother, Thomas Ostby; two sisters-in-law, Fran and her husband John Ihm and Susan Beermen; and two brothers-in-law, David and Thomas Epstein.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m.. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the funeral home, 234 Walnut St., Catasauqua, 18032. Call at the funeral home 10-11 a.m., before the service.
