Edward J. Dzema

Edward J. Dzema, 74, of Whitehall, died Jan. 19, 2014, at home. He was the husband of Sylvia A (Kovaleski) Dzema for 52 years.

Born in Kingston, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Kolcun) Dzema.

He was in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a 1957 graduate of the former Edwardsville High School, attended Scranton University, and earned a bachelor's degree from Kutztown University.

He was an art teacher at Trexler Middle School, Allentown School District, from which he retired after 38 years.

He then was an over-the-road truck driver for various companies.

He was a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Catherine of Siena, Allentown.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Tracy Marie and her husband Todd Sparks of Harleysville and Kelly Ann and her husband Robert Zeiner of Whitehall; two sons, Edward John Jr. and his wife Michelle of Va. and Thomas Adam and his wife Nancy of Allentown; a sister, Mary Ann (Gall) and her husband Larry Yokel; 15 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

He was predeceased by a sister, Martha Valyo; and brother, Lt. John, who was killed while serving his country.
