Breakfast with dads a fun time
The George Wolf Elementary School PTA held its annual Breakfast With Dads event Jan. 18 at the elementary school.
According to PTA members, this was the 14th Annual Breakfast With Dads celebration held at George Wolf Elementary. The response from dads and their children is so large that the PTA divides the event into two sessions.
PTA member Bethany Gray said the count for the first session was 325 participants. She expected over 230 for the second morning session.
New incoming George Wolf Elementary School Principal Stephen Serensits was impressed with the turnout at the breakfast. Acting Principal Christopher Hoenscheid introduced Serensits the fathers and children in the school cafeteria.
Serensits commented on the large gathering.
"I couldn't find any parking," he said.
Serensits thanked PTA members, fathers and students for the invitation to the breakfast. He begins his tenure as the principal Jan. 20. Serensits is an Allen Township resident and former principal at Trexler Middle School in Allentown.
During the event, raffle prizes were called. Winners were awarded 10 free bowling passes to the local bowling lane. Additional prizes awarded were George Wolf Elementary School memorabilia and Spring Book Fair tickets.
The main attraction was "The Unique Game Show" deejay Gerald Yelverton. Yelverton encouraged fathers and children to participate in the event. The game required three teams to participate in various challenges on a human game board. The contestants had to maneuver while holding hands through a hula-hoop. The winners received points for their teams to move ahead on the board.
After the roll of dice, another game was held to determine which dad could wrap their team the fastest with toilet paper.
The biggest challenge involved the fathers having to press a buzzer once they recognized a song. Throughout the event, some fathers resorted to their children for the answers.
The Breakfast With Dads was an excellent opportunity for dads and their children to spend a Saturday morning filled with fun.
Everyone at George Wolf Elementary School is looking forward to the 15th anniversary of this family fun event.
