Stephen L. Mayer, Jr., of Alburtis, died Jan. 25, 2014, in his home. He was the husband of Jessie (Hoffert) Mayer. Born in Allentown, he was a son of Stephen L. Mayer, Sr., and the late Katharine (Kohler) Mayer.

He worked as a maintenance guard at Lehigh County Prison for over 13 years, and also was an EMT and volunteer firefighter.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He loved music from the 1970s.

He is survived by his wife; father; stepmother, Judith C.; daughters, Amanda Hoffert, of E. Greenville, Heather, of Emmaus, and Katie, at home; brother, William, of Bethlehem.

Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. Jan. 31 at Northwood Cemetery, Emmaus. A Celebration of Life immediately following at Goodwill Fire Co. #1, Trexlertown. The Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, Allentown is assisting the family.
