Pates, Becahi win

After a slow start in the first quarter, Freedom High School's girls basketball team began a comeback which led to a 49-38 victory over Dieruff last Friday.

"The coach kind of gave it to us [after the first quarter]. We just start slow sometimes. In the second quarter, our shots started falling a little bit," said Freedom senior guard, Brenna Dosedlo.

By halftime, the Patriots trimmed the Huskies lead to one point.

"I think we played good for two quarters. We definitely picked it up after the half," Dosedlo said.

In the locker room, the Patriots discussed intensity, effort, coming out to play, and wanting to be there. The pep talk paid off as Freedom went on to outscore Dieruff 26-14 in the second half.

"We're working on following through with plays, working the ball around, and definitely rebounding and boxing out," said Dosedlo.

Dosedlo was the Patriots' leading scorer with 13 points, including a three-pointer off a pass from Kelley Rosete, followed by Ashley Husser who had 12 points. Gia Erie added eight points, Taylor Garza, Allyson McCready, and Rosete had four points apiece, and Tori McCaslin and Jaiden Coyne added two points each.

Also last Friday, Bethlehem Catholic defeated Emmaus, 72-31.

The Hawks had four players in double digits, including Jordynn Jones, Janelle Robinson, Maggie Melhem, and Kalista Walters. Nia Mims added seven points, Danielle Griffin had six points, and Jessa Zamolyi scored three points, also for the Hawks.

The Liberty Hurricanes fell to Nazareth last Friday, 56-32.
