LHS swimmers sweep K-Kids
Liberty High School's boys swim team extended its winning record with a 112-71 victory over Northampton last week.
The Hurricanes won all three relays, scoring eight points for each first place finish.
Sean Vannata, Nolan Vannata, Brandon Merkert, and Jacob Jones opened the meet with a 1:46.87 victory in the 200 medley relay.
Jones, Evan Smith, Merkert, and Brandon Hlavaty won the 200 free relay in 1:35.03, and Sean Vannata, Reid Rossi, Smith, and Nolan Vannata won the 400 free relay in 3:34.91.
Individual event winners for the Hurricanes were Sean Vannata in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.97 and the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.20, Jones in the 50 free with a time of 23.18 and the 100 free with a time of 51.85, Rossi in the 500 free with a time of 5:20.60, and Anthony Delcorso in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:10.75.
Liberty's girls swim team also defeated the Konkrete Kids, 142-44, sweeping every event.
Rachel Rider, Rachel Becker, Emily Cecchini, and Shelby Turner won the 200 medley relay in 2:01.02, Anita Kundu, Emily Buell, Chloe Kobus, and Kayla Drago took first place in the 200 free relay in 1:47.86, and Laura Parks, Buell, Drago, and Julia McCarthy won the 400 free relay in 3:57.23.
Individual event winners for the Hurricanes were McCarthy in the 200 free with a time of 1:59.78 and the 100 free with a time of 55.20, Jocelyn Baker in the 200 IM with a time of 2:20.96, Drago in the 50 free with a time of 25.41 and the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.79, Kobus in the 500 free with a time of 5:34.84 and the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:14.20, and Rider in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.70.
Rachel Steiner won the diving event with 212.15 points.
