Jonathan Melendez, Jr., 12, of Allentown, died Jan. 20, 2014. Born in Allentown, he was the son of Jonathan Melendez, Sr. and Nerfis Nieves.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Allentown and was currently in the seventh grade at Seven Generations Charter School in Emmaus.

He enjoyed reading, music, and sports, including being an avid New York Giants fan.

He is survived by his parents; brother, Jonah R. Nieves; paternal grandparents, Silvio and Hileida (Roman); maternal great-grandparents, Ceaso and Antonia (Cruz) Nieves; uncles, Alex C. Garcia, and Silvio, Jr., David, and Richie; and aunts, Angie, Zulma, Esmirna, Wanda, Ruth and Sara.

Contributions may be made to the funeral home for the benefit of the family, 18102.
