James L Schwartz, Sr., 77, of Kutztown, died Jan. 13, 2014 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife Delores M. (Kratzer) Schwartz celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on Nov. 6, 2013.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Robert and Viola ( Getz) Schwartz.

An iron worker, he worked out of the Iron Workers Local Union No. 420 and No. 36, Reading, for 43 years before retiring in 1992.

He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Deborah S., wife of Lunn Dietrich of Len-hartsville, Jane E., wife of Lynn Angstadt of Blandon; brothers Robert of Walnutport, William of Orefield and Franklin of Northampton; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, James L. Jr. and daughters Tami S. Dougherty and Kelly M. Hullihen.
