Northampton Community College

Campus tours begin Jan. 23

Northampton Community College (NCC) Main Campus free tours will be held at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 23, Feb. 18, March 20 and April 17; and at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 4, March 4 and April 1. Free tours of the Fowler Family Southside Center will be held at 11:30 a.m. Feb.11, March 11 and April 8 at the 511 E. Third St. location. Black History Month Events planned

NCC's 2014 Black History Month theme is "This by Faith: Spirituality and the Civil Rights Movement." Free, open to the public programming includes a community gathering at 7 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Lipkin Theatre, Kopecek Hall, Main Campus; a kick-off with music and food. at 11 a.m. Feb. 3 at the Student Life Zone, College Center, Main Campus; an a student debate: Stand Your Ground Laws, at 11 a.m. Feb. 27 in the David A. Reed Community Room (Room 220), College Center, Main Campus.

Other activities include the ThinkFast Game Show interactive program involving music, videos and trivia questions, 11 a.m. Feb. 4, Laub Lounge, College Center, Main Campus; and two 11 a.m. spotlight programs on black hairstyles (Feb. 13) and Harlem renaissance (Feb. 20) in the Reed Community Room.

Moravian College

Alumni, students honored

The Moravian College Alumni Association honored seven alumni and three current students at the Alumni Awards Ceremony Dec. 14 in Peter Hall, Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus. Receiving the awards were James M. Stevens '73, Comenius Award; the late Roy Goshorn '58, Moravian's Medallion of Merit; Denise M. Torma,Ed.D. '77, Benigna Education Award; Russell E. Morgan, Jr., Dr.P.H., '65, Haupert Humanitarian Award; Casey J. Hoffman '06, Young Alumni Achievement Award; Dylan S. Stroup '10, the Emerging Leader Award; and John and Mary Ann Williams, Honorary Alumni Award.

In addition to these seven alumni, the college honored three current seniors for their academic success and contributions to campus and community life at Moravian College. Katie O'Rourke '14, Hilary J. Reis '14, and Melissa Walters '14 received the Alumni Fellows Scholarship.

Lehigh University

Business dean named

Georgette Chapman Phillips, Vice Dean, Technology Enhanced Learning, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, has been named the next Dean of Lehigh's College of Business and Economics. Her appointment was announced by Lehigh's President Alice P. Gast and Provost Patrick V. Farrell. She will head the newly endowed Deanship.
