Barbara M. Behney, 75, of Kutztown, formerly of Kempton, died Jan. 19, 2014, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

She was the wife of the late Eugene H. Behney.

Born June 14, 1938, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Robert C.W. and Miriam E. (Bitler) Tews.

She was a certified nursing assistant at The Lutheran Home of Topton for 14 years before retiring in 2010.

A member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, New Tripoli, she was a quilter, member of the Ebenezer Women of the Church and volunteered with the clothing closet.

Her survivors include children Sherry A., wife of Glenn C. Hinkel, of Germansville, Eugene H. Jr. and wife, Peggy, of New Tripoli, Sally M. Metzger and her companion, Terry Wessner, with whom she resided, Dorothy M., wife of James R. Clare, of New Tripoli; sister Nancy A. Bloom and her husband, Phillip, of Allentown; grandchildren Ryan F. Hinkel, Crystal L. Clare and Christopher L. Clare.

Her funeral services will be 11 a.m. Jan. 23, at Ebenezer UCC, 7293 Decatur St., New Tripoli, with the Rev. Kevin E. Fruchtl officiating.

Family and friends may pay respects from 10-11 a.m. Thursday in the church.

Interment will follow the service in the adjacent parish cemetery.
