Becahi girls set school record to start season

Bethlehem Catholic High School's girls basketball team set a school record with the all-time best start in school history with their 48-27 victory over Whitehall last Friday. They are 12-0 as of this past weekend.

Becahi senior guard, Janelle Robinson, said, "In every position we have an advantage, and we know how to feed off each other."

Three days earlier, Bethlehem Catholic found themselves trailing Nazareth by five points to begin the fourth quarter, but the Hawks clawed their way back to a 47-45 victory over the Blue Eagles.

"Basically, in the first half, we were getting ahead of ourselves. We realized it was crunch time when it came down to it. Our intensity and aggressiveness got turned up a few notches to pull out the game," said Robinson.

Robinson acknowledged that there can be times when it may be difficult to keep up the intensity against a weaker opponent, but it does not mean the Hawks will give in.

"There are teams we're supposed to blow out, and they show us their best game, so we have to pick up our intensity and execute our plays. Definitely, the teams in the LVC are going to give us their best game and do anything to win. Every team is a threat, so we have to bring our best game," Robinson said.

This week, the Hawks will take on Parkland, having defeated the Trojans during the Yasso-Rothrock Tournament in early December.

Also last week, Liberty defeated Dieruff 60-43 after losing to Central Catholic 56-40, and Freedom lost to both Parkland, 46-25 and Northampton, 48-38.
