Northampton Borough Council voted unanimously at its Jan. 6 reorganization meeting to retain John Yurish as president and Robert McHale as vice president.
Borough Manager Gene Zarayko and borough Solicitor William McCarthy also retain their positions.
In other business, borough lawmakers approved the fire department's slate of officers, headed by Fire Chief Robert Solderich. Councilman Anthony Lopsonzki Sr. said the borough fire department is one of the best firefighting units anywhere.
Other officers approved were assistant chiefs Gregory Morey, Keith Knobloch and Thomas Kohler; along with Captains Joshua Abraham, Robert Smale, Ryan Shelly, Robert Shelly and Michael Booke. Kenneth Hall will serve as fire police captain.
"It has been customary for borough council to accept the officers as presented and ratify the same," Zarayko said.
Mayor Thomas D. Reenock administered the oath of office to fire department officers. Reenock also administered the oath to Robert Coleman, Robert McHale, Anthony Lopsonzski Jr. and Anthony "Tony" Pristash.
Appointments to borough boards and authorities were Sylvia Wasko, Richard Ackerman, renamed to the zoning hearing board, three-year-tems; Barry Dorsahimer, six-year-term, reappointed to the Civil Service Commission; Bernadette Klucsarits, reappointed to the board of health, five years; Anthony Winkelbauer, reappointed to the Northampton Borough Municipal Authority, five years; and Lehigh Engineering Associates, Inc., as sewage enforcement officers.
Zarayko said because of new state legislation, council must appoint an earned income tax collector. Northampton County has chosen Keystone Collections Group as the firm for the appointment.
"We need to ratify their selection," Zarayko said.
