In the public works report to the Heidelberg Township supervisors, Roadmaster Kevin Huber said they have been spending a lot of time trying to keep the trucks running.

Janice Meyers reported contacting banks for loan rates to purchase the Tiger mower. The Neffs National Bank gave the lowest rate on a 5-year loan at 2.44 percent.

She said there have been a lot of applications for the position of assistant secretary.

When the Berks County Intermediate Unit printed the tax bills, there were 11 special ones to be printed but were not.

They are not going to be considered delinquent because the bills were not sent.

No changes were requested for the fire tax procedures so they were adopted.

In changes to the township map it has been suggested along with changes to the zoning ordinance that environmental protection areas should be noted on the map as well as in text.

Engineer Roy Stewart will be asked to reword the change, including the warning any area can be environmentally protected.

The Crown Castle cell tower lease on Central Road requested the right of first refusal if the land is sold. That is not possible because if the land is sold it will have to be open for bids.

Solicitor Keith Strohl said if another receiver is located on the tower, as has been done, it is normal for the lease holder to get an additional 10 to 20 percent.

The company wants a longer lease term because it has to make an investment to update the tower.

The Lehigh County Association of Township Officials convention will be at the Schnecksville Fire Company. The township wants all officials to attend.

Rather than putting up no parking signs in Heidelberg Heights, Huber said they should be for abandoned vehicles only.

The six-township meeting canceled in December 2013 will not be rescheduled.

The 2014 meetings will be advertised and the first one will be in March.

The Sanctuary at Haffsville was appointed to handle stray cats and dogs. The charge will be $50 for a cat and $110 for a dog with a maximum yearly charge of $500. If costs go above that, there will be no charge.

The next supervisors' meeting is scheduled for Feb. 20.

Meetings were changed from the second to the third Thursday of each month.
