George E. Balent, 77, of Bethlehem, died Jan.11, 2014. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late George and Eleanor (Albertson) Balent. He was the husband of Barbara (Neiswender) Balent for 54 years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, 101st Airborne division.

He was employed by Bethlehem Steel. After retirement, he worked for KULP car rentals.

He was a member of Incarnation of Our Lord Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Thomas and his wife Kimberly, Terry and his wife Jill, John and his wife Mary-Jo, Christine and her husband Paul Piraino and James and his wife, Tamara; a sister, Geraldine and her husband Harold Poulton; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.
