Broughal eighth grade science students spent a November afternoon, dubbed Engineering Day, on the Lehigh University campus continuing an ongoing relationship with the PC Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, in which the middle school students are exposed to engineering concepts. Broughal science teacher Lori Cirucci said she elected six students from each of her science classes, choosing "kids with interests in science and engineering." Projects included building structures using only spaghetti and marshmallows and crafting paper airplanes. Students were awarded prizes for their achievements on each project in addition to enjoying refreshments. Professor Greg Tonkay, associate dean of engineering, is the advisor on the collaborative arrangement with the nearby Broughal MS.
