During the Jan. 6 Lynn Township reorganization meeting, Jason Boushell approached supervisors concerning a 5K race fundraiser planned for May 31.

The race, which would be in the morning, would leave Ontelaunee Park; follow Allemaengel, Oswald and Zeisloff roads then back to Allemaengel.

In the afternoon, a band would be offering music and there would be other events. New Tripoli Fire Company would handle traffic control.

Boushell is seeking board approval for use of the roads.

In other matters, Roadmaster Bruce Raber reported the road crew was busy trimming trees, plowing snow, replacing signs, doing equipment maintenance and various other chores in December 2013.

More tree trimming will occur weather permitting.

New Supervisor Steve Feinour said he would like Ontelaunee Park open during the winter months.

He believes residents would use the park if it were available.

As it is, even though there are "Park Closed" signs, people are still entering the park, he said.

Supervisor Brian Dietrich said the park budget would need to be in-creased because of extra work involved in the winter.

Raber said if this would occur, the park would also have to be handicapped accessible in the winter.

This would make more of a burden on the road crew as they would be required to maintain the park in the winter.

Feinour also wants to resurrect the Act 537 plan, but will wait until next month to address this issue.

Mabel Seyfried then addressed the board concerning her problem with the use of Jake brakes along Route 143.

A letter was forwarded to PennDOT concerning this issue and a response was received by the Seyfrieds.

PennDOT's policy is the municipality must adopt any prohibitions with written approval from PennDOT.

The township would be responsible for maintenance, erection and obtaining the signage.

Enforcement would be the responsibility of the police department covering the area – in this case the Pennsylvania State Police.
