Liberty boys swim team remains unbeaten

Liberty High School's boys swimming team maintained their undefeated record with victories over Central Catholic, 117-64, and Dieruff, 124-59 last week.

In the Hurricanes' meet against the Vikings, Sean Vannata, Nolan Vannata, Reid Rossi, and Jacob Jones led off with a win in the 200 medley relay in 1:47.56.

Brandon Merkert, Jones, Evan Smith, and Brandon Hlavaty also teamed up to win the 200 free relay in 1:34.91.

Individual event winners were Alex Fitch in the 200 free with a time of 2:01.27, Sean Vannata in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.34, Jones in the 50 free with a time of 23.29, Ryan Brong in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:03.18, Merkert in the 100 free with a time of 52.44, and Rossi in the 500 free with a time of 5:30.25.

Brong said, "We had some new people in new events. We take every [opponent] the same. We try to keep the the mood the same for each meet because we don't want to go in thinking one opponent is not as strong as another. Whatever meet we have is what we're focused on."

In the Hurricanes' meet against the Huskies, Cole Ledger, Anthony Delcorso, Bobby Hager, and Hlavaty led off with a win in the 200 medley relay in 1:53.96.

Fitch won again in the 200 free with a time of 2:02.96, Nolan Vannata took first place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:20.94, Jones placed first in the 50 free with a time of 23.38, Merkert won the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.43,

Sean Vannata took first in the 100 free with a time of 52.02, Rossi repeated in the 500 free with a time of 5:31.20, and won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.63, and Anthony Delcorso placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.38.

In the 200 free relay, Jones, Hlavaty, Merkert, and Sean Vannata placed first with a time of 1:35.39.
