Lynn Township's reorganization meeting started with an apparent snub at Vice Chairman Brian Dietrich.

When the election of officers for the 2014 year occurred, newly-elected Supervisor Steve Feinour was elected vice chairman of the board.

The motion was introduced by Chairman Justin Smith and seconded by Feinour.

Feinour was designated vice chair by a 2-1 vote, with Dietrich voting nay. Smith will remain as chairman.

The position of township secretary and township treasurer will be filled by the current Secretary/Treasurer Tammy White.

Kathy Hermany was appointed assistant to both these positions.

Township solicitor position will be filled by the law firm of Worth, Magee and Fisher, while the township engineer's position was awarded to Keystone Consulting Engineers.

Monthly meetings will continue at 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. The closeout meeting will be Dec. 29.

Several resolutions were adopted, among them the appointment of Harold Handwerk and Mike Dietrich to the township planning commission, Willard Wanamaker and Donald Christ to the zoning hearing board, Michael Fornauf to the building code appeals board, Barbara Blythe to the EAC and reappointment of Pat Ferraro and Mara Beck as co-chair of the EAC.

At the end of the meeting, Feinour addressed the board concerning items he wants to pursue.

First is the resurrection of the AARC ordinance to allow a retirement community to be built. He stressed his desire to be proactive and work to have the ordinance adopted.

Dietrich wondered if there were a conflict of interest if one of the board members, Smith, is in the family involved with the AARC.

Solicitor Mark Fisher opined there was no conflict.

Dietrich this would be a big mistake. If the units do not sell, the developer could request the township to change the zoning to allow other residential uses, specifically with children which could place a burden on the school district.

Feinour countered saying many people are leaving the community for an AARC development somewhere else. If there would be such a community in the township, he believes these people would stay.

Feinour also wants to meet with Raber to discuss a possible five or 10-year plan for replacement of equipment.

Feinour is also interested in changing the zoning designation in the area south of the Northwestern School District complex between Route 309 and Weiss Road to commercial.

He cited the many businesses in the area as a reason to change the zoning.
