Mae Elizabeth Herber
Mae Elizabeth Herber, 93, died peacefully in the morning of Jan. 3, 2014.
Born Nov. 13, 1920, in Schoenersville, she was the daughter of the late Walter J and Florence E (Smith) Greenamoyer.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Warren Charles Herber, who died in October 2007.
A 1939 graduate of Catasauqua High School, she began working as a lab technician for Lehigh Valley Dairy where she met her future husband through a mutual friend.
They married in 1943 while he was on furlough from the Army during World War II.
A meticulous housekeeper, an excellent baker and cook, and a dedicated gardener of flowers and vegetables, no one ever left her kitchen without being offered a meal or a "sweet."
Her grandchildren will always remember the yearly "Christmas cookie bake-off" the day after Thanksgiving.
Friends and family will always remember her love of playing bridge and pinochle.
She was a dedicated member of Ziegels United Church of Christ, Breinigsville, and a 65-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star 298.
She had a zest for life and a love for family and friends.
Her survivors include a daughter Jane, wife of Thomas Waite of Lemoyne; grandson Zachary Waite and wife Beth, of Mechanicsburg; granddaughter Elizabeth and husband Nicholas Facciuolo of Tacoma, Wash.; great-grandchildren Makayla Jane, Madilyn June and Ian Thomas; sister Dorothy Haas, sisters-in-law, Rita and Evelyn Greenamoyer; and many beloved nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.
She was also predeceased by her brothers Harold, Robert and Carl.
Her service will be 11 a.m. Jan. 11, at Ziegels UCC, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, with the Rev. Candi Cain-Borgman officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10:45 a.m. in the church.
Interment will be immediately following the service at the church cemetery.
