A 17-year-old juvenile was taken into custody just after 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 26, 2013, after he apparently barricaded himself inside a home in the 1200 block of Cardinal Drive, Breinigsville, Upper Macungie police say.

Police say the teen was possibly armed and he allegedly made threats to harm his family and to kill responding police.

According to police, the teen was believed to be under the influence orf several types of narcotics and was possibly having mental health issues.

Police say initial attempts to talk the teen out of the home were unsuccessful, however after a brief standoff, he exited the home and was taken into custody without issue.

The teen was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital for a mental health evaluation and treatment, police say.

He was also allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia and will face charges in juvenile court, police say.
