Michael A. Willency
Michael A. Willency, 70, of Allentown, formerly of Springfield, Mass., died Dec. 28, 2013, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.
He and his wife Margaret (Girard) Willency celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary last July 20.
Born Oct. 5, 1943, in Norwich, Conn, he was the son of the late Alexander and Elda (St Laurent) Willency.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era.
He was employed in the tire industry for 40 years, having been in sales and sales management for Bridgestone/Firestone, and Goodyear.
In the 1980s, he owned the former Michael's Tire in Springfield, Mass.
He was associated with Lehigh Valley SCORE as a counselor and workshop leader.
A member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield, he was on the finance committee and volunteered at both the church and school.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Michael A. of New York City, N.Y.; brother Richard of Noblesville, Ind; sister Janet Garb of Rockville, Conn; 21 nieces and nephews, and 11 grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by a son Jason Leigh who died in 2001.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Jan. 7 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield, with the Rev. Msgr. Robert J. Wargo as principal celebrant. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph P.T. Smith and the Rev. Joseph J. Kweder will concelebrate the Mass.
The family will receive guests following the Mass. Interment will be private.
