Henry O.J. Holtzhafer, 81, of Orefield, died on Dec. 26, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He was the husband of Irene C. (Schoemaker) Holtzhafer.

Born July 17, 1932, in Lower Macungie Township, he was the son of the late Henry C. and Helen A.C. (Meitzler) Holzhafer.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era.

He was employed in the custodial and grounds maintenance departments of the Parkland School District for many years before retiring in 1989.

Prior to that, he worked for North Whitehall Township.

He was a member of Jordan Evangelical Lutheran Church, Orefield.

His survivors include children John H. and his wife Jodi, with whom he resided, Donald H. of Blossburg, Carol Ann Brezan and her husband John, of Montoursville; several brothers; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
