Outgoing Catasauqua Borough Councilman Alfred Regits was recognized during a ceremony Dec. 18, 2013 in honor of his 36 years of faithful service to the borough.
In her remarks, Mayor Barbara Schlegel cited Regits' contributions.
"He has served on council for 36 years as councilman, president and vice president. He twice received the Thomas F. Crosthwaite Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Boroughs," she said.
Also mentioned in the citation were Regits' service as a 25-year firefighter, his work with the Lehigh Valley Blues Festival, his leadership in rehabilitating the pool and the park and his volunteer efforts for the Halloween Parade and the tree lighting ceremony.
"I had to work hard to try and get your contributions to the borough on one sheet of paper," Schlegel said. "I will miss your help and assistance."
The borough celebrated with Regits and his extended family in attendance. Council President Brian Bartholomew presented Regits with a plaque commemorating his 36 years on council.
Mayor Schlegel also issued a proclamation calling Dec. 18 "Alfred A. Regits Day" in the borough.
