Susan J. Schartel, 57, of Macungie, died Dec. 24, 2013. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Francis P. and June L. (Rappe) Holzer, of Bethlehem.

She was a graduate of Liberty High School, Class of 1974. She was an administrative assistant for various physicians and community organizations. She had worked at Lehigh Valley Hospital as a licensed phlebotomist. For the past 12 years she was employed by Muhlenberg College as the secretary of the Career Center.

She served as a Cub Scout den mother and member of the Brandywine Heights Music Boosters.

She enjoyed photography and the unfathomable joy of the beach.

She is survived by her parents; daughter, Stefanie; son, Kevin; brother, Richard Holzer and his fiance, Donna; companion of the last six years, Thomas Nelson; and Terry, the father of her children.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Organ Fund of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 121 South Home Ave., Topton, 19562.
