Pottsville drivers
arrested for DUI
State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Amber Michelle Marek-Jolley, 25, of Pottsville, was contacted as the operator of a vehicle found in a ditch 12:33 a.m. Dec. 13 on Route 22 West at the Pa. Turnpike interchange, South Whitehall Township.
Police allege multiple indicators of intoxication were seen.
Marek-Jolley was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, police say.
Charges will be filed with District Judge Jake Hammond, South Whitehall upon receipt of blood test results.
This incident is pending court proceedings.
In a separate incident, Samantha Ellex, 20, also of Pottsville, was stopped for several alleged traffic violations 8:50 p.m. Dec. 16 on I-78, Upper Macungie Township, State Police Troop M Fogelsville say.
Police allege Ellex exhibited signs of intoxication.
She was arrested for the suspicion of driving under the influence.
Ellex was transported to Lehigh County Prison, where she was processed and released.
SUV strikes barrier
along I-78
State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Tammy B. Smith, 33, of Bernville, was driving a 2008 Ford Edge SUV in the left lane of I-78 in Upper Macungie at 5:42 p.m. Dec. 14 when she lost control of the vehicle, which hit a concrete barrier.
According to police, as its tail end of the SUV shifted outward, it began to veer left and struck the concrete divider on the left side of the roadway with its front bumper.
Police say after impact, the SUV began to spin counterclockwise and struck the concrete divider with its rear bumper.
The SUV came to rest, with its rear bumper on the divider, just off the left lane, facing southwest, police say.
Smith, who was wearing her seat belt, was uninjured.
