Ray A. Schmoyer, 92, of Allentown, died on Dec. 20, 2013, in his home.
He was the longtime companion of Helen Roth of Allentown.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Harvey M. and Estella J. (Stephens) Schmoyer.
Before retiring in 1986, he was a union carpenter for Ray Bracy Construction.
A member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Allentown, he also was a member of Cetronia Fire Company.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
His survivors include a son, James M. and his wife, Debra, of Conshohocken; daughters Sheila A. Melore of Brick, N.J., Mary M., wife of the late Michael Shimshea of Allentown; granddaughter Meghan, wife of Raul San Jose of Cambridge, Mass.; cousin John Schmoyer of Allentown, companion Helen and her family.
He had a love for his grandpets Peanut, Boston, Mia, Andy and Molly.
He was predeceased by a brother, Norman Erney.
His services will be 10:30 a.m. Dec. 28 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 822 N. 19th St., Allentown.
Calling will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Burial with military honors will follow at Grandview Cemetery, Allentown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to his church.
