Four named to all-state team

Seniors Zack Bradley, Ra'Von Burton, Paryss Marshall, and Jared Nosal all played integral part in Catasauqua's ride this past season. All of them were among team leaders in several categories during the Roughies' 13-game adventure this past fall that ended in the second round of the PIAA Class 2A playoffs.

Despite missing a chance to win a state championship, the foursome received arguably the second best honor possible when they recently all were selected to the PA all-state team. It was the second consecutive honor for Marshall, who was named to the PA state defensive team as a safety last season.

Bradley finished his second full season as the Roughies' signal caller with numbers that became new staples in the record book. He completed 159 of 280 attempts for 3,047 yards with 43 touchdowns and just eight interceptions.

Burton, who played in 11 of the Roughies' 15 games due to a series of knee injuries, rushed for 1,484 yards with 20 rushing touchdowns, averaging 134.9 yards per game. He also caught four passes for 90 yards with a touchdown.

Although he didn't have the chance to fulfill his season, Burton was still humbled by the honor.

"It feels great especially knowing how my season ended," said Burton. "This is an honor to still be considered one of the top players in the state. I am very thankful. I also was running behind the best offensive line in the state.

"We had a great year and my team played well without me."

Marshall caught 76 passes for 1,566 yards with 20 touchdowns. He also rushed for 52 yards on eight carries.

"This is such a great honor," said Marshall. "It is a great feeling to be recognized as one of the best players in the state at your position. It is a great achievement for the team and all of the hard work and efforts we had this season."

Nosal also had a banner year at his linebacker spot as he led the team in tackles and sacks all season.

Head coach Tom Falzone was happy to be the head recipient of their efforts.

"Those guys did it all season long," said Falzone. "They were driven to achieve our goals and achieved milestones on the field that will be difficult to duplicate or surpass. It is a real tribute to them and our program."
