Smoke in the building

Salisbury Township police, four area fire departments and the Emmaus Ambulance Corps, respond to a report of "an odor of smoke in the building" at an office building at 2010 Bevin Drive 6:45 p.m. Dec. 19. Firefighters from Western Salisbury, Eastern Salisbury, Emmaus and the South Whitehall Cetronia Station fire departments responded to the PATHS office building, formerly an annex of Penn Treaty, to investigate. WSFD Fire Chief Joshua Wells said overheated air above the suspended ceiling in the building combined with dust and other construction debris to mimic the smell of smoke. PATHS is a healthcare services firm which moved recently to the Bevin Drive building, which had undergone extensive renovations in the past several months. The building's HVAC contractor was contacted to investigate the fault in the system.
