Dr. William W. Oswalt Jr., 88, from Emmaus, died Dec. 11, 2013, in his home, surrounded by his family.
He and his wife Nancy H. (Nagle) Oswalt celebrated 64 years of marriage on April 10.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late William W. Sr. and Elizabeth (Hipple) Oswalt.
He was an Army veteran having served during World War II.
He earned his Master's and Doctorate degrees in education from Temple University and his undergraduate degree from Muhlenberg College.
He began his career as a teacher in Pittsburgh in 1949 and retired as the assistant executive director of the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit in 1983.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and volunteering at Emmaus Public Library.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Thomas D. and his wife, Linda, of Salisbury Township, James C. and his wife, Sharon, and Key E., all of Emmaus; grandchildren Jaron, Tegan, Peter, Danica, Matthew and Dalton; great-granddaughters Mikayla and Skyler.
Memorial donations may be made to the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus, PA 18049.
Services are private at the convenience of the family.
