Residents to send their own cards

The Whitehall Township Public Library had a Christmas card making class Dec. 9.

The class was open to adults and children. Each participant was asked to make two cards – one for a recipient of their choice and another to be sent to Fellowship Community or Whitehall Manor for someone who is alone at Christmas.

"Seems like the seasonable thing to do," said Patty Vahey, director of the Whitehall library. "It is a good thing to do at this time of the year."

Cementon resident Conchetta Marucci brought her two sons, Joseph, 8, and Gary, 5, to the class to make Christmas cards for those who are alone at Christmas.

"I think the elderly people have given so much to our community, I want to give back to them," said Marucci. "And I want to show my kids to help those that are less fortunate then us."

"I love crafts and making things," said Joseph. "I like to help out when others do not, and I love the library."

"It is important that I came because the people will get more cards, with beautiful pictures to make them smile and be happy," Gary said.
