LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Hokendauqua column

Due to the snowstorm last weekend, the Hokendauqua Park & Playground Association (HPPA) had to postpone Operation Santa Claus.

Santa will now attempt his annual visit Sunday, Dec. 22, beginning at noon. The Hokendauqua Fire Company will escort Santa, so if you hear the sirens, feel free to come outside to greet him.

Let's hope we have great weather this weekend so Santa can make his rounds.

The HPPA would like to extend warm holiday greetings to everyone.

HPPA is partnering with Girl Scout Troop 63415 to collect food for the Whitehall Food Pantry located at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on Mechanicsville Road.

The food pantry is always in need of food donations, especially during the holiday season. Your food donations can be taken to Gockley Elementary School's lunch room 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21.

You are also invited to worship on Christmas Eve at Faith Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road. There will be a family-oriented service at 4 p.m. Candlelight services with holy communion will be offered at 7 and 10 p.m.

These two services will be preceded by 30 minutes of music by the organist and a brass quartet.

The Sunday School Christmas program at Faith Lutheran had to be postponed due to last weekend's inclement weather. It has been rescheduled for Sunday, Dec. 29, during the 10:30 a.m. service.
