Hellertown Borough Council voted unanimously Nov. 18 to form a needs space committee to research possible renovations to the municipal complex.

A previous needs space study was undertaken by Barry Isett and Associates, which Councilman Tom Rieger took opposition to.

"I'm not happy with the money we paid Barry Isett and Associates," Rieger said.

Rieger argued council should explore a third needs space study and concentrate on idle, unused space in the municipal complex.

According to Rieger, much of the open space is the result of the municipal building previously serving as a private home.

Rieger also inquired on where the public works department might be located.

Council indicated the possibility of moving the police department into the public works department building, currently located in a building behind borough hall, in the event the department relocates elsewhere.
