Are you thinking of moving to a new home locally or abroad? Remember, a moving permit is required for residents moving into, out of, or within the township. Moving permits are available from the Salisbury Township finance office. There is a small fee. You may also download a moving permit application form and submit it, together with the fee, for approval. Those moving into the township can receive a recycling bin at the time a moving permit is filed. Copies of the permits are supplied to Berkheimer Associates so they can update personal tax rolls. Those moving who do not purchase a moving permit may be fined.

PennDOT has issued a reminder of guidelines for shoveling and plowing snow to keep traveling safe throughout the season. Residents are asked to refrain from shoveling snow onto state roads already plowed. They also ask snow not be shoveled onto any roadway for it can make the roads hazardous to drive on. Property owners will be held responsible for accidents if they are at fault.

Pennsylvania state law requires individuals maintain their property in ways to avoid creating dangerous road conditions for others. This includes avoiding blocking highway lanes and drainage facilities with snow and ice. Fines will be issued for those who do not abide by these ordnances.

PennDOT suggests residents follow the following guidelines for shoveling or plowing snow onto state-owned roadways.

Snow should be shoveled or plowed to the right side of the driveway as you are facing the intersecting roadway. By piling the snow away from the oncoming direction of the snow plows, the snow will not be pushed back onto the driveway.

Eliminate snow piles at your property's entrance. If your snow is piled high near or in your driveway, it can block the vision of passing drivers, in turn, causing a potentially dangerous situation.

PennDot recommends not pushing snow onto roadways at any time. This makes for dangerous conditions for all drivers.
