Despite a leaky roof, the Northampton Borough's wastewater treatment plant continued operating normally.
At its Dec. 5 meeting, borough council members learned about the roof leak.
"Emergency repairs have been completed to the roof at the wastewater treatment plant," borough Manager Gene Zarayko said. "If you recall, they were leaking badly and there is expensive equipment in that portion of the building."
In another matter involving sewer operations, Zarayko said he was notified by Albarell Electric, Bethlehem, that the generators for three pumps will not arrive for another 12 to 16 weeks.
In other council business, a public works department crew removed the sign and flagpole at the Lerchenmiller Drive fire station. The work was done so construction can begin on the addition to the fire station to be constructed on the east end of the existing building.
"We expect the footers and foundations to be in place before the end of the year," Zarayko said.
The project will take at least six months to complete. Along with additional bays, the addition will include a training room added. Groundbreaking took place several weeks ago.
Council was also informed a dance is scheduled for Dec. 14 for children in fourth, fifth- and sixth grades. A dance for seventh- and eighth-grade students is set for Jan. 22. Both dances begin at 6:30 p.m. and there is a cost to get in.
Council will hold one more meeting before the year concludes. That meeting is set for Thursday, Dec. 19. Council will hold a reorganization meeting in January when new council members are sworn in. Council will also elect its president and vice president at that time.
