Stout back for Patriot divers

Freedom High School senior, Kaycee Stoudt, will return to the Patriots diving team as captain for the 2013-2014 season.

Stoudt placed seventh in districts last year, and is expected to be in the hunt for a top spot in districts this season.

Coach Jeff Zettlemoyer believes Stoudt's best dives are her inward dive pike and her front one-and-a-half pike.

Stoudt is currently working on a back one with one-and-a-half twists.

"It's a brand new dive, and she's shaping it up for the season," Zettlemoyer said.

Also diving for the Patriot girls will be Madison Donnatelli and Madison Young.

The Patriot boys have two divers, Andrew Umstead and John McGinty. Both are returning.

"I want us to do well in all meets, of course, but the 11-dive meets [are important], and the girls can probably do 11 dives," said Zettlemoyer.

The whole of Freedom's swimming and diving team consists of only 30 swimmers this season, which Zettlemoyer hopes will eventually increase.

"We're a little bit down in numbers. I would like to gain more," he said.
