Freedom High School's divers, Kaycee Stoudt, John McGinty, and Madison Young, competed in their first dual meet of the regular season last Friday at home against Emmaus.
McGinty placed second with 163 points, behind Emmaus's Andrew Vanim, who scored 168.65 points.
The Freedom sophomore's highest scores, sevens and eights, came on his inward pike.
"It just felt right," McGinty said.
McGinty also scored well on his reverse.
I practice it a lot. It's one of my better dives," he said.
McGinty's other dives last Friday were a front dive with a half twist, a front one somersault with a half twist, a front one-and-a-half somersault, and a back somersault straight.
"I had a good practice yesterday, and I felt confident," he said.
McGinty has also been attending Board Benders, a diving training program at Lafayette College.
"The coach is really good with form and entries into the water," said McGinty.
In girls diving, Stoudt placed third with 164.95 points, and Young placed fourth with 146.80 points.
Coach Jeff Zettlemoyer said, "I like what they did today. John has been putting in the time. He's getting more height, more definition, and he's lining up his dives better. I couldn't be happier."
On hand to cheer on the Patriot divers were Liberty Hurricane divers, Rachel Steiner, David Darlington, Meryam Okumus, and Rachel Finn, which was extremely appreciated by Zettlemoyer, McGinty, Stoudt, and Young.
