Stanley W. Smith

Stanley W. Smith, 86, of Allentown, died Dec. 1, 2013, in his home.

He and his wife Dorothy S. (Kline) Smith celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary last Dec. 31.

Born Sept. 18, 1927, in Northampton, he was the son of the late Victor T. and Clara P. (Hunsicker) Smith.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an electrician's mate second class.

A 1945 graduate of Northampton High School and a 1957 graduate of Muhlenberg College, he was a courtesy driver at Bennett Jaguar, Allentown, before retiring in 2008.

Prior to that, he was an engineer with the Borough of Macungie Water Department, Horsham Clinic in Ambler, HCSC Laundry Services in Allentown and the Atlas, Dragon and Coplay cement companies.

He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Northampton, where he formerly taught Sunday School and was a handbell choir member.

Having a love for his family, he was proud to have organized the Hunsicker and Smith Family reunions.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by children, Kit L. Smith of Allentown, Mark C. at home, Roderick D. and wife Victoria of Allentown, Holly M. Olenwine and husband Terry and Rhonda J. Santilli and husband Gabriel, all of Schnecksville; brother Willard and wife Eleanor of Poway, Calif.; sister Eleanor and husband Eugene Kovalchick of Catasauqua; grandchildren Cody, Katrina, Marissa, Jared and Max.

He was predeceased by a son, Collin C., and brothers, Warren and LeRoy.

His funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Dec. 5, at Grace UCC, 902 Lincoln Ave., Northampton, with the Rev. Heather N. Kurtz officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday in the church.

Interment will follow the service at Allen Union Cemetery, Northampton.
