Heath care advocate visits D.C.

Rose Dopsovic, a Bethlehem resident and colon cancer patient, joined more than 50 fellow patient advocates from across the country recently in Washington, D.C. to call on members of Congress to protect patient access to life-saving medical imaging and radiation therapy services. Talking with representatives, Dopsovic expressed the importance of screening before the age requirements. Dopsovic was diagnosed with stage 3B colon cancer well before the age of 50. She was only 34 years old. Dopsovic is now fighting stage 4 colon cancer and was recently told by her insurance that a PET scan was not necessary for her future cancer treatments, cancelling her appointment. Dopsovic's cancer metastasized to her lungs and the PET scan would guide her doctors towards the right treatment for her individual case.
