Charles E. Shoemaker Jr., 59, of Coopersburg, died Nov. 24, 2013.

The son of Ruth (Levis) Shoemaker of Fogelsville and the late Charles E. Shoemaker Sr., he was the loving husband of Lisa Jane Shoemaker.

The 1976 class valedictorian at Lehigh University, he also was a graduate of Yale Law School.

He was a world-class Scrabble player, reading and grammar aficionado, and a great trial attorney.

He loved John Wayne, car talk, Christmas caroling and his family.

In addition he was a Sunday edition crossword enthusiast, history buff and antique car collector with a sweet tooth for chocolate desserts.

Inspiring, challenging, kind, witty, thoughtful and insistent, he lived a complete life and will forever be remembered as a truly remarkable human being who spread comfort and happiness to everyone he met.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by children Eric, Virginia, Christian and Gwynneth, and canine comrades Duke and Spike.

His service will be private.
