Royal E. Snyder Jr.

Royal E. Snyder Jr., 89, of Wescosville, died Nov. 22, 2013, in Woodland Terrace, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Wanda Ann Marguerite (Phelps) Snyder. Born in the Ogdensburg Hospital, N.Y., he was the son of the late Royal E. Snyder Sr. and Bessie Taylor Snyder.

He graduated from Canton High School in 1942.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 and served in World War II until his honorable discharge in 1946. He served aboard the SS Collis P. Huntington, MS Java and USS Saugus LSV-4.

He attended Clarkson College of Technology. He worked at the Canton post office becoming a postal inspector for the U.S. Postal Service serving for 22 years until his retirement in 1982.

After his retirement he and his wife enjoyed an active and full life of golfing, bowling, camping, sailing and woodworking.

He is survived by three children, Sharon and her husband Donald Holden, Royal E. III (Chip) and his wife Glenna (Nikolet), of Allentown, and Jenifer and her husband Thomas Touhsaent, of Mertztown; sister, Marla Rawlins of Canton, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Jill, Lori, and Michael Holden, Kara, Kirsten, Timothy and Tammy Touhsaent, Jessica Touhsaent and her husband Jeffrey Hottenstein; one great-grandchild, Gavin Hottenstein; and his companion of the last nine years, Ellie Leeser.
