Holiday family storytime and craft at the Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Dec. 5
Allentown AARP Chapter #5415 will meet noon at St. Timothy's Church, 140 S. Ott St. Allentown. A recognition holiday lunch for members only will be held noon to 1 p.m. At 1 p.m., open to the public, the speaker will be Mayor Edward Pawlowski, who will provide an update on Allentown. Dec. 6
A variety of distinctive area residences will be featured in The Swain School's 44th annual Holiday House Tour, also on Dec. 7. This year's event is expanded to include a second daytime tour of the homes. The Swain School is located at 1100 S. 24th St., Allentown. Participants can enjoy a tour via a bus or luxury coach Dec. 6, or a self-guided option on either day. The Holiday House Tour also includes Holiday Shops at Swain as well as a pick-a-prize raffle, children's raffle and bake sale.
As part of the annual holiday event, Holiday Shops at Swain will be offered 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 7 at the school. Over 40 vendors will be on hand for shoppers; Holiday Shops is free and open to the public. Wine and cheese reception and holiday book sale at the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., 6 to 9 p.m. The reception features refreshments and musical performances by Emmaus High School musicians.
Dec. 7
Emmaus' Old Fashioned Christmas begins Dec. 7 with storytelling 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the library. The historic sites, 1803 House, Shelter House, Knauss Homestead and Emmaus Moravian Church, will be open noon to 4 p.m. At each of the sites, children will be invited to make a holiday ornament which can then be hung on the community tree on the Triangle. The Emmaus Historical Society's museum, 563 Chestnut St., will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. At 2 p.m., there will be a free showing of the "Polar Express" at the Emmaus Theater. Attendees are requested to bring a nonperishable food item. Beginning 3:30 p.m. there will be various musical performances on the Triangle Park stage. At 6 p.m. there is a community sing-along, tree lighting with Emmaus Mayor Winfield Iobst pulling the switch and the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. Horse and carriage rides will be available 5 to 8 p.m. in front of Creamery on Main. There is a cost to ride.
The Shelter House, 601 S. Fourth St., will offer take-home crafts for children, warmed cider and home-baked cookies at its open house noon to 4 p.m. The Shelter House's newly published cookbook, "Classic American Cookbook," will also be on sale.
The 1803 House will sell fresh Colonial holiday wreaths during Old-Fashioned Christmas. This is a fundraiser to continue to maintain the 1803 House. To pre-order your wreath, call 610-967-2984.

Dec. 8
Visit Alburtis for the annual holiday festival. The day begins with breakfast with Santa at the community center, Second and Walnut streets, 8 to 11 a.m. There will be surrey rides and other activities throughout the day. The Emmaus High School students will sing Christmas carols 5:30 p.m. followed by the tree lighting ceremony. For complete details, check the borough website Alburtis.org.
Dec. 10
The Lehigh County TRIAD/Project Lifesaver meeting 4 p.m. at the Lehigh County Senior Center, 1633 Elm Street, Allentown. The meetings are free and there are no monthly or yearly dues. Dec. 13
Quilling artist Buffy Albright will host "Home for the Holidays," a holiday boutique, 20 W. Main St., Macungie, 2 to 8 p.m. Also 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 14. A donation at the door will be given to The American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.
Dec. 14
Macungie Holiday will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local businesses, the Macungie Historical Society and Macungie Memorial Park participate in this borough-wide event. The activities include a scavenger hunt for all ages with participating businesses and community organizations; train displays and breakfast and pictures with Santa at the Macungie Institute; horse drawn surrey rides in Macungie Park; free Holiday Trolley rides throughout the borough; and holiday crafters at Macungie Memorial Park. The December recital for the Young Musicians of the Allentown Music Club at Country Meadows Retirement Community, 410 Krocks Rd, Allentown, 1:30 pm. The students will play pieces related to the upcoming December holidays. The event is a free concert and new members are welcome. Any child age five to 18 who wishes to showcase his or her musical talents on an instrument and/or voice is encouraged to come.
