Calcagnetti reaches college milestone

Bethlehem resident Daniel Calcagnetti is celebrating his 20th year with Fairleigh Dickinson University. The assosicate professor of Psychology and Counseling with the College at Florham was presented with an award at a luncheon on Nov. 6. The group was welcomed by Peter Wooley, college provost. Barry Sheffield, assistant director of telecommunications, was the master of ceremony.

FEMA Region II appointee Hatfield

Lieutenant Colonel Jerome Hatfield was appointed as the Regional Administrator of FEMA Region II on Nov. 4 by President Barack Obama. He is the son of the late Steve and Rebecca Hatfield and is the nephew of Esther M. Lee, president of the Bethlehem NAACP. He is married with two children.

He is a 1977 graduate of Liberty High School and was a member of the Grenadier band and the track team. He earned a a bachelor's degree and is a graduate of the Center for Homeland Defense and Security, Naval Post Graduate School, Executive Leader's Program. LTC Hatfield is a Certified Public Manager (CPM), awarded by Farleigh Dickinson University. The a 27 year veteran of the New Jersey State Police, was the Deputy Superintendent of Homeland Security and a member of the National Advisory Council to FEMA. He is vice-chairman to the Emergency Management Accreditation Program and has led EMAP liaisons to Kenya in support of international assessments conducted in conjunction with the Department of Defense (U.S. African Command) and the Center for Disease and Humanitarian Assistance Medicine (CDHAM). He is a certified public manager.

The Honorary First Defenders recently held their 70th Annual Military Ball on November 2, 2013 at the Econo Lodge & Conference Center, Allentown, PA. The ball commenced with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. followed by a dinner and awards ceremony. The night concluded with a Military Grand March and dancing. This brings all branches of the service together in one gala event. It is a tribute to our military troops and precludes our annual Veteran's Day on November 11th.

Honorary First Defender's presents the Commander's Award plaque yearly to one serviceman/woman from each of the local reserve units. Recognized for outstanding service in their respective Reserve components are Pretty Officer Orlando Quintero, U.S. Navy Reserve; Sgt. Anthony Panzarella, U. S. Marine Corps Reserve; Ssg. Gabriello Noviello, PA Army National Guard; and Sgt. Marie Lee Smith, U. S. Army Reserve

Thanks to the recipients and all servicemen/women for their dedication and sacrifice to ensure our freedom, and the well-being of all the people of the United States of America.

MOMA officers elected

The Pennsylvania Council of Chapters of the Military Officers Association of America recently elected officers for the 2013-14 term. Incoming persons are retired Lt. Col. Bob Gray, U.S. Army, Camp Hill, president ; retired Lt. Col. Bob Cudworth, U.S. Army, Moosic, first vice-president; retired Col. Harold Cooney, U.S. Army, Carlisle, second vice-president; retired Col. Nancy Anderson, U.S. Marine Corps, Greensburg, secretary; retired Lt. Cmdr. Jack Whalen, U.S. Navy, Limerick, treasurer; and retired Col. Bill Harris, U.S. Army, Bethlehem, immediate past president.

MOAA actively works with state legislators to safeguard the benefits of the state's almost 1 million veterans, active military and their families and supports initiatives to increase awareness of the sacrifices made by those who served and are currently serving.For more information contact Col.
